Speculatively traded PJM, MISO, and NYMEX natural gas futures for a three year forward term. • Expressed market views via directional positions, heat rate, regional, and time spreads. • Coordinated the activities of the in-house meteorologist and short-term trading desk to generate cohesive, actionable market views.

Deployed a market-oriented approach to optimizing the financial gross margin of a 7200MW fleet of Midwest coal-fired generation. • Modified hedge position with PJM West, Northern Illinois, AEP-Dayton, MISO Indiana and Henry Hub natural gas futures. • Implemented medium-term directional and spread-based strategies and event-driven, volatility-based short-term power positions in a stand-alone speculative book. • Mitigated embedded fuel risk in the firm’s coal transport contract with CME heating oil and ULSD contracts. • Managed two experienced commodity traders responsible for executing directional, basis and emissions transactions in both a proprietary and customer-facing capacity.
