I was employed as Senior R&D Engineer for Rheem Australia’s Solar R&D Department, the role included, New Product Design & Development, Project Manager, Product Maintenance and Certification, Quality Improvement and technical support. 1. Provide motivation and leadership for staff, including performing annual performance reviews 2. Planning and delegation of work and assessing individual project priorities 3. An active role in the recruitment and retention of staff; conducting interviews 4. Problem solving and negotiating skills (technical and project managerial situations) 5. Assist to define the project scope and Project Manage design development process using a Stage Gate system, ensuring project goals have effective governance and project performance is communicated to all stakeholders 6. Assurance of quality control, including drawing control and documentation control 7. Attend regular design meetings to support the development of the project objectives One of the products which I conceptualised, design developed and commercialized was a new solar collector panel encasement, using aluminium extrusion, steel, glass filled nylon and silicone grommet seals. The design is certified to meet Domestic and International Standards. The design is innovative in its function and has had five international design patents registered. Structural cyclonic mounting frames are another significant product range which I have developed, again using aluminium extrusions along with stainless steel fasteners, designed to meet AS/NZS1170.2 wind code requirements, suitable for installation into Australian wind region D areas. I was the R&D representative on the Quality Improvement Team for the full product range. I also work with the Quality Team to develop Product Quality Plans and PPAS validation process

I was employed as Design Manager with SJW Facades Limited, which encompassed a multitude of roles including Design Office Manager, Project Co-ordinator and Procurement Officer. Work within the CAD Design team to detail and check drawings prior to issuing for construction. SJW Facades Limited operated as a sub-contractor or a main contractor providing complete design and build solutions. Services provided included the design, fabrication of complete facades/ full building envelope, including structural steel, lightweight steel walls, curtain walling, cladding and glazing systems, utilizing a wide range of materials.

I was employed as a Design Draftsperson at Architectural Aluminium, which is one of the largest independent manufactures of curtain waling in the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom. My main responsibilities included the design, fabrication and detailing of curtain walling, glazing and cladding systems, utilizing a variety of materials, including aluminium, glass, steel, tiles and metal insulated panels. Additionally I liaised with Architects/Design Teams, Main Contractors, Builders and On-Site Installers on a number of prominent developments throughout Ireland, part of this process includes the regular requirement of monitoring on site progress development.

I was employed as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, at Jason Windows which is the largest Aluminium fenestration company in Western Australia (fully ISO accredited), and one of the top three glass consumers in the whole of Australia, also a large consumer of aluminium extrusion profiles, with a heavy emphasis on Research and Development. I was responsible for designing all aspect of Jason Windows aluminium window and door systems. I led and helped coordinate a small team of engineers.

My role with this company was as a Head Designer / Draftsperson. Duties included Designing layouts and customising furniture/interiors for custom built caravans. Drawing full working plans for production. In charge of designing all units of furniture. Draft Brochures & Sales Kits. Modularize furniture, aluminium side frames and chassis and standardise all component assembly instructions/procedures for use as training manuals. Give Technical support and problem solving to production staff. Estimating of labour and material costs and standardising these systems and procedures. Liaise with Tradespeople and Sales Department. I was involved in the creation of a Research and Development department, which focused on new products and the use new materials, general innovation, product improvement, and the testing and appraisal of prototypes.
