Jochen G. Hofstaetter

I am an orthopaedic surgeon with a passion for complex hip and knee surgery. Moreover, I have a profound interest in clinical and basic research, PJI, AI, MSK-healthcare.I went to medical school at the Medical University of Vienna. Following graduation, I did a post-doc research fellowship with Prof. Melvin Glimcher at Children’s Hospital Boston /Harvard Medical School. Orthopaedic training was done at the Medical University of Vienna under Prof. Rainer Kotz and Prof Windhager. After completion, I did an adult reconstruction fellowhip at the Royal Adelaide Hospital at the University of South Australia with Prof. Donald Howie.Currently I am head of the Arthroplasty Department at the Orthopaedic Hospital Vienna-Speising, Austria, which is a large orthopaedic tertiary center. Over 11.000 orthopaedic surgeries are performed per year at our institute and we do around 3000 joint replacements with a focus on revision surgeries.Moreover I am the head of the Michael Ogon Laboratory for Orthopaedic Research at our institute. Our research is on various aspects of hip and knee surgery, Artificial Intelligence, PJI and Bone Biology. In the past, I was a member of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Osteology in Vienna and head of the Orthopaedic Research Lab at the Medical University of Vienna.New clinical and research collaborations are always welcomed.
