Responsible for global TAH (with focus on ORC) platform in new product development and life cycle management. The work includes determining the strategy and lead the cross functional team to drive the execution; sponsoring project team to provide technical and project managment supports for new hemostatic product launch; Setting up and leading the team to provide technical supports for all the life cycle management projects, e.g. BCPs, CIPs, Process optimization, and trouble shooting, Responsible for overall China Biosurgery platform to determine the pipeline strategy and work with cross functional team in portfolio management for China Biosurgery. SME for porcine plasma based biologicals-Fibrin Sealant and other associated products. Leading a global RD team to recruit, train and retain talents for the organization.

 Determine, develop and manage China biosurgery pipeline for China and other emerging market;  Set up and manage Biosurgery R & D team in China to discover and develop new biological based products and medical devices to address unmet medical needs.  Determine R & D strategy in a matrix organization to support both short term business needs and long term business horizon, by working with global RD team and cross functional partners, e.g. marketing, medical, clinical, operation functions.  Set up technical support team to support, stabilize and improve current biological production by optimizing manufacturing processes and develop/implement new IPC assays and introduce new global products to China.  Set up regulatory team to support both base business CMC and new product registration in China, including biological products and medical device registration.

Set up regional Ethicon R & D team and building capabilities and working mechanisms through collaboration with global R & D team.  Manage execution of Ethicon regional R & D strategy and development activities to discover and develop medical device product to address unmet patient needs in China and other Asia Pacific countries (1 product launched globally and 1 product launched in China)  Work cross functionally with Marketing, RA, MA, QA, supply chain to ensure pipeline execution.  Develop & implement Asia Pacific regional product development process and design control process/procedures to ensure product quality.  Provide supervision/coach to R & D team members, including engineers/scientists and project managers in technical aspects and support their career development.  Create the working environment to facilitate innovation, and motivate team members to develop novel products and complete projects within timeline.

Set up R & D lab; Set up and implement SOP systems for new product development in China and laboratory operation.  Direct a team of formulation/process and analytical scientists in product development to launch products in China, with close collaboration with global RD team.  Provide technical coach to the team in method (assay) development, formulation development and process development.  Manage and follow up the project development schedule; Work within the guidelines of the organization, standard performance metrics, and regulatory guidelines to plan, monitor, control, and implement projects from initiation to completion and production scale-up;  Ensure all the product development process compliant with relevant regulatory and corporate requirements  Ensure technical support for product registration, process analysis, plant validation and market promotion  Manage the transfer the technology to manufacturing site.

Focus on analgesic drug discovery with drug mechanisms studying and new drug target identification and validation.  Designed in vitro and in vivo experiments, develop, and validate new molecular, immunochemical, or other cell-based assays and new end-points to meet drug discovery research projects needs, including screening compounds in Hit identification, Lead identification projects and further explore mechanisms of candidate drugs in Lead optimization projects  Developed and maintain interactions with scientists from academic university and pharmaceutical companies and medical practitioner to collect updated information in pain and CNS disease-related area; interact with colleagues from global sites of AstraZeneca to discuss most critical issues during drug development  Supervised postdoctors, coop students and technicians in scientific and technical aspects  Wrote scientific papers and develop scientific presentation internally and externally; identify, prepare scientists and clinicians from outside of the company to give scientific symposia.  Attended international conference to exchange information with scientists, medical practitioners and present company data according to company rules  Chaired department statistic group to provide support in analysing and interpreting preclinical and clinical data

Designed and performed experiments in developing new drugs for stroke and pain or other CNS diseases using electrophysiological, Ca2+ imagining, immunocytochemistry, molecular biological, and biochemical techniques, which was funded by CIHR and Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada  Wrote scientific papers and gave presentation in international conferences  Supervised undergraduate and graduate students in their research  Attended international conference and reporting new findings

Screening anti-arrhythmic compound by designing and performing in vitro and in vivo studies by using molecular biological, biochemical and electrophysiological techniques  Collected and analyzing data and make in vitro and in vivo correlations.  Took part in design of clinical trials, analysed clinical data  Presented data inside company and attended conference locally and internationally.
