There are always things we hold to, things that make up the core of who we are. As the US Declaration of Independence says, Life, liberty… and heavy whipping cream! Ok, so the last part is totally something I added, but in my pursuit of happiness, I have found cream in my coffee makes my day that much better… Along with cruise vacations, visiting Washington D.C. to see the Smithsonian, country music, the scent of lavender and having Thanksgiving with friends and/or family. Unlike my coffee choices, becoming someone who works with databases was… sort of random. In my last job, I had no idea becoming proficient in Excel would lead to becoming an SQL analyst, which would lead me to becoming an SQL administrator and working at Accruent. If you’d asked me a decade ago, I would have had no clue I’d be where I am now. If I’d had a choice, I’d be living on Mars, after all… or on the Moon. Though, thinking on that, I doubt they’d let me take my dogs with me. They’ve gotten me through some rough times and one of the joys of my day is seeing their tails wag. Give me my dogs, my cowboy hat and good coffee and my day is set! In my spare time (spare time? What’s that?) I find computer problems to solve, making me the default computer technician in my family. Even so, I find myself asking my sister questions at times, given how smart and hardworking she is. She is an inspiration to me in continuing to learn things, to examine myself and things around me. There’s just so much out there I don’t yet understand, but I always intend to do my best to learn at least a little bit of all of it.
