I'm a sixth-generation Texan with no hat and no boots. I studied engineering and architecture in college but graduated with a BFA in photography and began my professional career as a designer and copywriter. And despite my complexity, or maybe because of it, I live by one guiding principle. Simplify. It's shaped my entire career, creating deceptively simple images that have found their way into Communication Arts Photography Annuals as well as those for design and advertising. Ditto for the New York Art Directors Club Annuals and the One Show, AIGA Book Show and AIGA Communication Graphics Show. One of my posters won a gold medal in the annual Hollywood Reporter Movie Poster Competition and now is included in the permanent collection of the Library of Congress. I also received a certificate from Coronado Heights Elementary School for reading 25 books in the second grade. That made my mom proud.
