DSMC/Remote Server Management, Birmingham, AL – Regular responsibilities included Tier 3 support, Server Management, Change Management, Problem Management, backup/restore, documentation, Tree Management, programming utilities, and management of Applications, DHCP, SQL, Oracle, Terminal Services, and Domain Controllers. Fully responsible for 108 servers, interfacing with users, application support, management, and other maintenance personnel was almost a daily duty. The RSM group inherited a distributed network where no one group knew where the servers were located, how they were monitored, who managed them, or whether or not they were secure. That network was consolidated into data centers and centrally monitored, maintained, secured, and fully identified. By March, 2005, what few servers not in a secure data center environment were scheduled to be moved to such an environment or replaced by servers in that environment. Of the 108 servers, I only saw 6 of them. All management was remote.
