About

I am an innovative research and development expert with 8+ years of experience in small and large molecule characterization, experimental design, optimization and execution, cross-functional collaborations, and scientific communication which has prepared me to be a highly successful and dedicated scientist today. I am motivated by the creative and diverse minds brought together by cross-functional collaborations to work towards puzzling the undruggable and advancing promising therapeutics to make a meaningful impact on patients' lives. What I bring to the table: 1. I am a self-starter and interdisciplinary expert in chemical biology, chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology. I have 8+ years of preclinical research experience leading to 4 publications in high-impact peer-review journals, 10 oral and poster presentations, and designed projects supported by NIH funding. 2. I am an excellent and creative scientist with a track record of designing and maintaining SOPs alongside a strong technical background in assay design and development, peptide chemistry and chemical biology, protein biochemistry, and instrumental analyses. 3. I have an extensive track record of leadership, mentorship, and training through directing and managing 6 research projects, building 3 cross-functional collaborations with the lab, and mentoring 10 trainees at different stages of career development from diverse backgrounds. 4. I am a highly adaptable and quick learner of new techniques and project focuses as I enjoy being an endless learner. I am constantly brainstorming effective ways to communicate and tell a story about the research I do through exceedingly organized presentations and personally designed visuals. Transferrable skills: -Expertise in chemical biology, small and large molecule characterization, biochemistry, and molecular biology -Preclinical drug development -Team leadership skills -Project and time management -Cross-functional relationship building -Growth mindset -Scientific writing and presentation skills -Interpersonal communication skills -Teaching and mentorship -Adaptability My end goal is to use the skills I've learned to be a part of something bigger- contributing to the preclinical stage in moving healthcare forward and positively impacting patients' lives. I'm happy to discuss possible opportunities. Let's connect via LinkedIn or email: jsanjuan521@gmail.com
