The curriculum of the M. Wilhelmina Boldt Interior Design program combines general education classes, known as the University’s Liberal Arts Core, with professionally directed coursework to develop practitioners with a commitment to critical thinking, lifelong learning, and concern for the well-being of people and the environment. The combined coursework provides a broad understanding of human needs within the built environment as required for practice. The Sustainable Interior Environments Master of Arts Program trains established built environment professionals and educators to become agents for change to ecologically, socially, and economically responsible design of interior spaces. The program prepares future leaders by providing expertise in research methods, theories, and progressive practices applicable to building environmentally responsible interiors, and helping to transform the environments in which we live, work, learn, and play. The Sustainable Interior Environments program seeks to make the knowledge of sustainability an inherent part of the design decision process for the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
