Learning takes many different formats. Individual opportunities to challenge oneself happen daily and can look like a conversation in a barely learned language with a stranger on a train, preparation for teaching a new text to a class of grade 6 students, or time spent familiarizing oneself with a whole new ai platform. I find that time spent reading news, books, or articles or listening to podcasts is very rarely time wasted. Instead, it encourages me to create connections, question the world around me, and to wonder how, why, and to what extent. My main job this year has been to learn. I have asked questions of our staff, students and parents. I have tried to collect data that helps us to understand what is happening and what is working well. I have read as many policy documents and snooped through all the shared google drives I could find. In each of these steps, I have been impressed, grateful, and excited to be working with such a strong team of professionals who care about their students’ learning and wellbeing just as much as they do for each other. ISA has been the best choice for me and our family for so many reasons. I am glad they have taken the chance with me as well!
