I am a Supply Chain and Purchasing professional having operated within the plumbing / heating and building markets for neary 30 years initially in distribution before moving onto manufacturing and then for the past 7 years returning to distribution first as General manager and then latterly as a Managing Director. I have gained extensive knowledge of Far East sourcing having both negotiated multi million pound contracts for bought out products and also the dismantling and re commisioning of manufacturing processes that were transfered to lower cost manufacturing locations. I also have experience in manufacturing processes, machined, stamped, drawn. forged and extruded. My objective is simple - to build upon my previous career history / successes and to advance / improve my commercial knowledge combined with the ambition to play a key role in improving financial importance and customer service.

Initially employed as Purchasing Manager this role involved the sourcing and management of placing orders for plumbing and heating products that would be pre packed and distributed to the mutiple retail trade - BQ, Wickes, Homebase etc. During this period I made my first trip to China to begin identifying potential manufacturers for the transfer of commodity plumbing products from Italy. There were not too many people looking in China at this time (1991) and as such the Chinese manufacturing structure was very different to what it has developed into as of today. In 1999 Polypipe plc acquired Robimatic and during this time I was invlited to relocate to Yorkshire to join Polypipe to represent Purchasing at board level with my initial title being Group Strategic Purchasing Manager. This role involved the identification of high cost / high labour products with a view of transferring to lower cost manufacturing locations.
