Led communications efforts (including public relations and social media) on a volunteer basis to promote Impact 100 Chicago's mission: awarding membership-funded, $100,000 grants to non-profit organizations improving the lives of underserved individuals and communities in the Chicagoland area. Graduating from intern to senior account executive at this boutique PR agency, I worked on media relations and event planning for the opening of Michael Jordan’s Restaurant, the Illinois Lottery Millionaires’ Reunion and the Ronald McDonald House Charities Celebrity Golf Classic.

I joined Nielsen to lead media relations for the company’s North America Buy business after the role was dormant for several years. I developed a strategic plan and focus for the function, positioning Nielsen as a key source for trade, consumer and business media on retail, consumer packaged goods (CPG) and beverage alcohol insights in the U.S. and Canada. Consistently exceeded my media relations stretch goals and secured coverage in top tier outlets including the Associated Press, Reuters, Financial Times, ABC News, The TODAY Show, CNBC, Washington Post, CNN, Bloomberg, CBC Radio, The Globe and Mail and The Financial Post. I was the sole spokesperson in this role, and carried out media relations activities from writing press releases and key messages, to editing bylined articles and guest columns, pitching stories and media training spokespeople.

Conducted media relations activities for the Precious Moments 20th Anniversary, a campaign that was recognized with a Publicity Club of Chicago Golden Trumpet Award and an IABC Silver Quill Award. I wrote and edited a weekly internal communications newsletter and wrote speeches and video scripts for key executives, including the CEO. My teamwork and media relations results were recognized by the CEO as the company’s Partner of the Month.

Led public relations strategy and activities for Hewitt's HR outsourcing and defined contribution (401k) businesses, working with personal finance and business reporters. In addition to my public relations responsibilities, I managed industry analyst relations. During my time at Hewitt I was inducted into the company’s Key Talent Program for high-performing, high-potential employees.

I lead the Communications function for this former client turned employer. My responsibilities encompass internal and external communications strategy and execution. I work closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on: employee communications, executive communications, media relations, corporate messaging, industry award programs and event communications, as well as communications supporting the company's HR and M&A activities. I also support the company's marketing communications/thought leadership and social media efforts.
