The Art Reach Project strives to connect with at-risk youth through the use of art, and to distribute fundamental resources to underprivileged communities in Central America with the aim of improving education. During this time, I coordinated, planned and facilitated art projects and self-discovery activities with various youth groups in schools, after-school programs and community organizations.

My position as a Community Health Educator allowed me to act as the project coordinator to establish and maintain partnerships with school staff, including principals, teachers and social workers to promote the REAL Talk program and sustain an ongoing collaboration between Planned Parenthood and AISD schools. I served as point of first contact and liaison between Planned Parenthood, federal and local research teams and school staff. Ongoing communication and rapport with school teachers each semester to coordinate, organize and implement program is essential to our program. I worked diligently to solidify new school liaisons and implementation sites each school year as staff changes occur. I implemented a six week evidence-based curriculum through health classes in four AISD High Schools under a five year OAH federal grant. The REAL Talk program has become an integral part of AISD and since it began, there has been a 20% decrease of teen pregnancies across the district.
