The SOAR Occupational Therapy Clinic is a community-based clinic focused on providing occupational therapy evaluation and treatment that serves early elementary children who are scoring significantly below benchmarks in literacy skills. As an OT intern in this setting the goal of therapy was to provide in-depth evaluation and design client-centered intervention directed toward improving school performance. Experience with the administration and interpretation of: Berry VMI, Minnesota Handwriting Assessment and Sensory Profile.

* Sensory Systems Clinic West, PLC is located in Wayland, Michigan and provides occupational therapy for individuals of all ages. They provide comprehensive evaluations and research based, client-centered therapy using highly motivating activities in a sensory gym utilizing suspended equipment. * At this Clinic I gained experience in the following ways: * Observed three occupational therapists. * Assisted with therapy with children ranging from age three to age eighteen. * Developed therapy activity ideas including fine motor and gross motor activities. * Encouraged children in reaching their goals and improving areas of function.

* The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is Michigan's state-funded preschool program for four-year-old children with factors which may place them at risk of educational failure. * At this location I gained experience in the following ways: * Assisted in teaching preschool children aging three to five years old. * Established group activities for small groups of children. * Developed children’s abilities in fine and gross motor skills.

* Hillside Learning Center (West Program) provides programs to educate students who are physically and/or cognitively impaired. The classroom teachers, along with a nurse, speech therapists, occupational and physical therapists, aquatic instructor, music therapist, technology specialist and various specialized teacher consultants all join together to plan and provide a free and appropriate public education for each student. * At this location I gained experience in the following ways: * Assisted in a class room for those with physical and intellectual disabilities that aged from eighteen to twenty-five. * Provided student with tasks and activities. * Aided students in the completion of their daily schedules.

Western Michigan University Senior Day Services is an adult day program designed to serve individuals with cognitive or functional impairments that need special assistance or supervision during the day. As an OT intern in this setting the goal of therapy was to provide the individuals with a combination of social interaction and rehabilitative activities that encourage using the individuals’ strengths to improve health. Experience with the administration and interpretation of: 9 Hole Peg Test, Box and Block, BMAT, Berry VMI, Tinetti Balance Assessment, Lets Do Lunch, Range of Motion, Grip and Pinch strength.
