As a footwear Sales Associate with Sport Chek, my role was to provide the full customer experience by connecting and sharing product knowledge with customers. It was also important to ensure that displays were always fully stocked, tidy, and visually appealing. This position allowed me to gain valuable customer service experience and communication skills. I contributed to store sales by interacting in a patient, accommodating, and friendly manner with customers. I frequently received glowing reviews from satisfied purchasers of active footwear. As necessary, I also assisted other departments when the store was busy, in order to ensure a cohesive team environment.

My position as a library page included responsibilities such as sorting and shelving library materials, assisting with opening and closing procedures, and keeping the library in an organized condition. I also took on extra duties as needed, including helping with children's craft projects, assisting library patrons, and training newly hired pages. Having worked in this position for three years, I learned to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The sorting of library books required incredible focus and attention to detail, as well as time management skills to complete all the necessary tasks in a work shift. Performance reviews describe me as a "hard worker who always has a smile on her face and a warm greeting for co-workers and customers."

Working as a CanSkate Coach is both challenging and rewarding. I was responsible for leading and teaching basic skating skills to groups of young children. Throughout the lesson time, I also assessed and graded the skaters' progress. Finally, I communicated with skaters' parents by writing report cards detailing the accomplishments and areas of improvement for each skater. This position allowed me to be creative through the development and application of coaching methods that would best foster learning. It was important that I be observant and adapt teaching methods on-the-spot to benefit the needs of each individual skater. I also learned to be patient, enthusiastic, and organized in my teaching in order to inspire skaters' continuance of the sport. Communication was another crucial skill in this position, as I interacted with parents in a courteous and understanding manner.

In my role at the Bank of Montreal, I conducted extensive research on effective practices for employee engagement. From my findings, I prepared recommendations in the form of Powerpoints and research papers for the Leadership Team. To follow the new and changing study of employee engagement, I developed an RSS feed that allows for ongoing monitoring of emerging research trends. In order to facilitate the implementation of engagement practices, I also created a comprehensive outline for a user-centred problem-solving method that leverages Design Thinking to improve the employee experience.
