About

I am a very driven person--I know what I want and I'm willing to work hard to achieve it. I am, however, also realistic and understand that sometimes I have to be flexible and have an open mind when attempting to reach my goals. My plan, as of right now and hasn't changed for many years, is to become a large and small animal veterinarian with accreditation to work internationally and a specialization in exotics. I am also considering the public health side of being veterinarian and working with the prevention and of infectious diseases. My hopes are to use veterinary medicine to better the lives of humans and animals in third world countries; and then perhaps build my own clinic. I am, of course, open to anything life will toss my way.

I clean laboratory dishes and utensils and take out the bio-hazard waste. I file paperwork and record test values in log books. I stock the fume hoods and the cabinets. I also help pour gels for electrophoresis occasionally, and photograph the finished gels. I also do various paperwork projects, such total test counts and reorganizing filing systems.

I started as a kennel assistant taking care of the boarding animals and hospitalized patients, doing things like walking, feeding, bathing. I also do laundry, cleaning, dishes, and organizing. I moved up to veterinary assistant while still continuing my kennel duties. So in addition to those responsibilities I also assist in appointments holding animals, filling some prescriptions, entering appointment information and charges into the computer. I also assist with surgery preparations and administering some medications. I also do inventory, stocking, and organizing.
