Jeffery Jiang
Recruiting Intern @ Rice Athletics
About
Mathematical Economics Major at Rice University, I have a strong interest in how intentional data analytics can create value for businesses and people alike. Currently a Senior, I will be joining Bank of America full-time as a Global Risk Analyst in Charlotte. Prior to last summer, I worked with Diamond Equity Research, providing insights on investment decisions based on financial metrics such as leverage, EBITDA, and profit margins. My coverage was mainly in BioTech, and it was a valuable experience that strengthened my analytical evaluation skills. Additionally, I spent the summer after my freshman year working for MM Capital, a boutique investment company located in Shanghai, China. Completing a project examining the impacts of El Nino on agriculture globally, the experience helped me understand the wide range of factors that contribute to effective evaluations of industries and businesses. During the past winter, I also had the privilege of working with Newdo Venture as a Research Intern, utilizing tools such as the DCF analysis to evaluate platforms such as Cloudera and Athenahealth Marketplace. During my time here at Rice, I have also interned with Rice Football since my freshman year, currently working as a recruiting intern. I am primarily focused on evaluating high school prospects based on team needs, utilizing tools such as Hudl, PFF, and ARMS. As a recruiting intern, I am also responsible for assisting staff members with hosting game-day/recruit visits such as Junior Day. Alongside the internships, my friends and I co-founded a camp during high school named "Love me, Love Sports" under the “Love Me” Ministry that aims at helping children with special needs find their passion in sports. In that process, I was responsible for recruiting volunteers as well as planning the schedules for the camps on a weekly basis. To this day, the organization is still hosting camps for over twenty children regularly. During high school, I also worked as an assistant tennis coach for the Columbia Athletics Club located in Sammamish, WA. I worked with children across many age groups and supervised at local league tournaments. My experiences at these tournaments honed my communication skills both in-person and online. As an immigrant who moved to the US at age 13, I have learned that differences enrich us and help us understand each other better. I love talking to and learning from people with various perspectives and life experiences, which is why I was selected as an advisor during Rice's Orientation Week 2024. Go Owls!
