Dynamic and with a wealth of experience, they pride themselves on quality work with an extremely detail oriented work ethos. Their roster of repeat clients and the strength of their work relationships speak to the ongoing customer engagement that is integral to their business. Handling both small scale and multiple floor commercial projects, they are able to handle any scale of project and meet the most demanding of schedules.

Claybar Group Limited is a mid size firm specializing in ICI projects, particularly tenant fit outs and return to base projects in the downtown core. Filling a management role at Claybar, I was responsible for managing workflow between many concurrent projects, as well as resource management of staff across multiple shifts and multiple project managers. I was often the primary point of contact for clients, trades, landlords and third party project managers. I was responsible for managing the expectations of all parties to see projects through to their satisfactory completion. During the course of projects I was responsible for overseeing and coordinating the collection of construction documentation including, but not limited to: change notices, permits, drawing sets, shop drawings, as well as start up and close out documentation.

LJM is a mid-scale commercial and residential developer with a number of retail and condominium properties throughout the GTA with award winning developers and top tier designers. In addition to their numerous development projects, LJM also maintains a stable of rental properties in both the commercial and residential sectors.

Educe Limited is a boutique design/build firm specializing in environmentally sensitive residences in Toronto as well as a variety of offshore residential projects throughout the Caribbean. During my time with Educe Limited I have: • Performed research evaluating various environmental technologies and their cost and labour impact on the design and construction of residential projects across Ontario. • Created and managed efficiency studies to track effective use of materials and labour on sites to ensure that budget and schedule were being directly adhered to. • Developed a variety of unique design details to address problems in design and construction situations as they relate to building performance. • Performed estimating and day to day management of multiple concurrent projects of varying sizes from design to client turn over. • Created and issued complete construction drawings, details, and three dimensional modelling in concert with designers and architects to create studies and design documents for residential projects. • Managed the flow of information between clients, consultants, and sub trades with regards to pricing, schedule, and construction documents. • Scheduled and managed all aspects of projects ranging from single family homes to the erection of 52 multi-family residential units on a remote site. Key Lessons: Being a boutique firm, Educe Limited taught me the value of adaptability and efficiency. One of the key features of the firm was that there was always a straight line between the client and the team responsible for delivering their project, and often I proved to be the key point of contact for them. This emphasis on direct communication and immediate response to problems and inquiries proved invaluable to the clients that selected us for their project delivery.

Michael Thomas is a mid to large size construction management firm handling numerous commercial and institutional projects all across Southern Ontario. During my time at The Michael Thomas Group I have: • Oversaw multiple concurrent projects of varying sizes from inception and design to client turn over. • Created and issued construction details in concert with designers to compliment the design documents for various projects. • Managed the flow of information between designers, clients, and sub trades relating to but not limited to pricing, schedule, and various details and clarifications. • Chaired meetings relating to the successful execution of projects and resolution of on-going management issues. • Scheduled and managed trades, deliveries, and phasing in a complex commercial environment. Key Lessons: While with The Michael Thomas Group, I have learned the importance of detailed and effective communication. I was able to develop tools for effectively communicating the needs of our site teams and the clients among the various actors on a project. The varied and sometimes disjointed nature of the projects made clear and concise communication imperative and helped me get the answers I needed in a timely manner to help deliver projects on time and on budget.

X Design is a small but dynamic design firm operating in conjunction with and in direct competition with some of the largest design firms in Canada to complete projects of a number of national and international clients. While working for X Design I: • Served as team lead for independent offsite survey teams including multiple designers and technicians to create detailed as built drawings. • Organized and coordinated workflow and scheduling and contract administration for multiple projects to ensure timely delivery of services and adherence to deadlines and milestones. • Actively collaborated with management in an effort to maximize efficiency in processes. • Served as a CAD technician for designers creating details and feasibilities for interior design projects • Performed quantity take offs to create project budgets, as well as project scheduling for design and construction projects. Key Lessons: In the intense and fast paced environment of X Design, I quickly learned the importance of efficiency and accuracy. Due to the size of the staff and the extended out of town projects I was able to develop a strong sense of independence and ownership of projects. The limited office support in exterior projects also allowed me to develop a level of resourcefulness in circumventing obstacles to achieve project goals.

As owner and operator of Not To Scale Design, I was responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day functioning of a small scale landscape design and construction firm. These tasks included: • Designed, deployed and all constructed small to medium residential landscaping projects including concrete, retaining walls, and stone patios, decks and interlocking. • Created sketches and AutoCAD drawings of sites and projects based on sketches and site measurements to create functional working drawings of projects for clients and contractors. • Managed all ordering, billing and payables for multiple projects and mobilisations. • Handled frequent client meetings in order to ascertain needs and wants with regards to current schedules and future projects. • Performed all labour necessary, in conjunction with my staff, to complete projects on time and on budget. Key Lessons: While being self-employed I received a valuable education in the function of a business and the details that sometimes go unnoticed while working for someone else. Being in charge of all aspects of projects also gave me a good sense for the planning and organization required for handling the complexity and stress these situations can create.
