Synthesis of National Reports for the 2014 Third International Conference on small island developing States (SIDS). Analysis and creation of a ‘Synthesis Report’ from 38 national development reports of SIDS: (AIMS, Caribbean and Pacific). The report identifies key issues related to the general objectives of the 2014 SIDS Conference and assesses capacity development needs to strengthen integrated approaches in national development planning, in the context of Sustainable Development Goals (BPOA, MSI+5 and MDG). The synthesis evaluates the progress and gaps in policy formulation, its integration, and identifies areas where partnerships and political commitments could be developed. Emerging issues ‘Post 2015’ are recommended within the report. The report concludes with recommendations for SIDS to move ‘beyond measures of GDP’ in order to achieve long term sustainable national development.
