About
I've spent over 30 years doing one thing: making photographs that tell the truth about a moment. As a staff photographer at The Philadelphia Inquirer, I covered Super Bowls, Olympics, and championship runs for every major professional sport — and was twice named a Pulitzer Prize finalist for team coverage. My work appeared in Sports Illustrated, The New York Times, People Magazine, USA Today and other media outlets worldwide. That photojournalist's instinct - for the unguarded moment, the telling detail, the image that works at any size - is exactly what I bring to institutional and commercial visual storytelling today. For the past 15+ years, I've served as the on-retainer institutional photographer for some of the most respected independent schools on the Main Line and across the Philadelphia suburbs - including Friends' Central School, The Academy of Notre Dame de Namur, The Grayson School, and Delaware Valley Friends School, The Baldwin School and others. I understand how photography feeds the full communications and admissions lifecycle. The images I produce are created to work across viewbooks, annual reports, donor appeals, enrollment marketing, social media, and website hero content - not just for the day of the shoot, but for years of institutional use. Beyond independent schools, I work with businesses, nonprofits, and organizations across the Philadelphia region on brand photography, corporate events, executive portraits, and annual report imagery. Every project gets the same discipline: advance collaboration with clients, arrive early and prepared, read the room, and leave with images that do the work they were hired to do...or better! Based in Penn Valley, PA, Jay Gorodetzer Photography is available throughout the Philadelphia region and beyond for multi-day assignments. Let's talk about what you're trying to create!
