Autopilot and Electronics Product Design Optimus sensing

Responsible engineer for 7 subsystems & lead 25+ engineering students for UW-Madison's first single occupant solar vehicle. Oversee manufacturing/ assembly, budget, integration, testing, documentation, and onboarding for the mechanical team.

Engineered a carbon fiber sandwich panel chassis and roll cage for the solar car, utilizing FEA ANSYS impact analysis to refine the design. Collaborated with industry experts to optimize joints and fastener connections for the sandwich panel structure. Conducted comprehensive epoxy testing on CFRP joints to validate strength.

Led a small team and modeled a front-rear biased hydraulic braking system for the solar car. Solved interference issues (mounting the caliper with an in-hub motor & rotor) with DFM and assembly in consideration.

During my internship, I collaborated with a Senior Mechanical Engineer within the research and development team to help design an internal space-grade control valve for high pressure applications. This required extensive reference to research papers authored by NASA and the Air Force and an understanding of feedback mechanisms. Additionally, I took charge of developing a comprehensive test apparatus for the team, employing an Arduino to automate data collection from pressure transducers, flow meters/controllers, and force gauges. I also worked on the Advanced Plant Habitat (APH) team, gaining valuable experience working with tough space industry standards. I worked on project data management, using excel lookup formulas, filters and other tools to find part data quickly. I converted models, drawings, and data to flight release ready state into Windchill.

During my year as Treasurer at Theta Tau, I undertook the responsibility of managing a budget of $15000+. In this role, I made executive decisions on behalf of the Fraternity and worked closely with other chair positions to establish and monitor budgets throughout the semester. Encouraging a group of 70 fraternity members to complete any given task was challenging, particularly when it came to collecting dues. However, I achieved over 95% collection of dues by building relations and using employing effective communication skills.
