As a Hardware Engineer within the battery development team, I was responsible for the design and development of high- and low-voltage hardware for battery pack systems, ensuring safe, reliable and manufacturable solutions. My main responsibilities included: - Design of HV and LV PCBs using Altium Designer (schematic capture, layout and release to manufacturing, including DFM reviews with suppliers). - Definition of battery pack hardware architecture, including power distribution and grounding strategy. - Design of internal HV/LV wiring harnesses using Altium Designer Harness Extension. - Selection and validation of electromechanical components (HV contactors, fuses, pre-charge circuits, connectors, etc.). - Participation in technical discussions with suppliers and end customers. - Definition and execution of validation test plans at component and system level, including thermal characterization and endurance testing to ensure performance and reliability. - Close collaboration with mechanical, software and systems teams to ensure full product integration. During this period, I was appointed Hardware Lead for a motorsports-oriented battery project, taking full technical ownership of the hardware definition and system architecture. Responsibilities included: - Definition of the complete battery hardware architecture, including HV/LV distribution, protection strategy and signal interconnections. - Determination of all key battery elements and required internal interconnections. - Selection and technical validation of electromechanical components and BMS. - Contribution to the design of the cell module and the Battery Disconnect Unit (BDU). - Coordination of hardware-related decisions across mechanical and systems teams to ensure performance, safety and integration.
