Software Engineering Intern – Ontario Power Generation (PNGS Operations 5–8, Integrated Operations Planning) Developed internal tooling and automation for Operations broadly — Fuel Handling, Scheduling, IOP, and Ops Support. Automated the Quad Chart system using VBA (DOCX parsing, schedule synthesis, crew/shift/role coverage, common ops data) — saved ~1 hour/day for Control Room Shift Supervisors. Built a modular Python framework, PyOPG (Qt + SQLAlchemy + Azure/On-Prem DBs [Oracle, PG, SQL Server] + AD Auth + SharePoint integration), using a variant of the MVC design pattern for easy Multi-screen Qt Apps with easy access to the DB & Global state layers. Used to build 7+ desktop apps, distributed across Conventional Systems, Performance Eng., and Common Services. Developed Shift Crew KPI Tool — automated 100+ monthly KPI metrics across PNGS crews, with Excel exports and side-by-side comparisons. (Built with PyOPG) Created Operator Shift Log Diff Tool — differentiating nuclear operator logs over N days to highlight meaningful state changes; (So you dont need to manually check what's different, rather see a visually formatted difference highlight for a quick check) fully test-covered for high-confidence decision-making. (Built with PyOPG) Tackled side quests: fixed legacy Access apps, wrote ad-hoc SQL scripts, built CLI tools for niche workflows, onboarding interns into OPG's entreprise software eco-system (and showing them the leverage of PyOPG) Reworked and deployed key Power BI dashboards and PowerApps, including the CIC / MRB Software Suite used by 800+ staff across sites, with Operations Management as primary stakeholders. Built the Fuel Handling Dashboard with PowerBI, integrating data from Performance Engineering SCR, HIT Team Tracking, AS9 GDAR, and Action Tracking systems. Included two embedded PowerApps for streamlined data capture — supporting live status updates and structured post-mortems.
