My role at the EPA was to ensure industry compliance with the Victorian Industrial Waste Management Policy (National Pollutant Inventory) 1998. This involved desktop assessments of NPI reports submitted by industry, as well as site visits and onsite audits. In addition, there was a strong training focus, and I coordinated a variety of training seminars and workshops for industry.

The Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities is the Australian Government Department responsible for the protection of the environment and improvement of the sustainable use of resources. My role as an Assistant Director at the Department involved the ongoing implementation and development of the National Environment Protection (National Pollutant Inventory) Measure 1998. The NPI reports on the emissions and transfers of 93 chemicals from over 4,200 industrial facilities around Australia each year. My role included managing technical and policy issues for the Department. I was responsible for overseeing updates of the NPI guidance materials which provide industry with information and techniques for the estimation of their emissions to the environment and transfers of wastes.
