About
I am a student attending the UMTC, and I have a strong enthusiasm for professional growth, leadership, and community involvement. At East Ridge High School, I served in a number of leadership positions, such as Treasurer of the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) and Event Manager for the ERHS South Asian Student Union, where I actively plan events and encourage student participation. I also serve as a Student Ambassador and head the Speech Category, serving my students and my school in a variety of ways. I have a wide range of abilities, such as event organizing, financial management, team coordination, and public speaking, thanks to my involvement in more than ten clubs and organizations. My goal is to create vibrant, inclusive environments where children can flourish both academically and socially. Along with my leadership in extracurricular activities, I have developed my analytical skills through research with the Gifted Gabber Summer Research Program and have shadowed professionals at the Minnesota Institute for Pain Management and Regions Hospital to learn more about possible career paths in clinical medicine. My passion in medicine has grown as a result of my practical experience in both clinical and research settings, which has also reinforced my dedication to assisting people. Having worked at Plato's Closet and other nearby tutoring companies, where I acquired real-world experience in retail management, communication, and teaching, I also contributed a strong work ethic and customer service abilities. With a strong desire to help people, a track record of handling several tasks, and a commitment to both professional and personal development, I am excited to keep looking for opportunities that will test and broaden my skill set.

Observer
Minnesota Institute for Pain Management
2780 E Snelling Ser Dr, Roseville, MN 55113
I had the privilege of shadowing Dr. Sanjeev Arora, a highly experienced pain specialist and owner of the Minnesota Institute for Pain Management, where I gained valuable exposure to interventional pain management. During my time at the clinic, I observed Dr. Arora’s patient consultations, noting his approach to diagnosing, educating, and personalizing treatment plans for individuals with chronic pain. I also had the opportunity to witness various procedures, including epidural and cortisone injections, learning about the techniques involved and the precision required for effective pain management. This hands-on experience deepened my understanding of the clinical and procedural aspects of pain management and sparked my interest in this specialized area of healthcare. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Arora for his mentorship and for providing me with such an insightful experience that will continue to shape my aspirations in medicine.

Student Researcher
I authored an in-depth research paper on the incidence rates and epidemiology of Merkel Cell Carcinoma, a rare yet highly aggressive skin cancer. This comprehensive 5,000+ word study explored the factors influencing its prevalence, risk factors, and the challenges in early detection and treatment. Through extensive literature review and data analysis, I gained valuable insights into the complexities of oncological research and the importance of early intervention strategies in improving patient outcomes. This research project was completed under the exceptional guidance of Dr. Prahlad Parajuli, Professor Virgel Torremocha, and Coach Jo, whose expertise and mentorship were instrumental in shaping my work. I also extend my gratitude to Gifted Gabber for their unwavering support throughout this journey. Their encouragement and insights helped me navigate the challenges of conducting rigorous research and producing a polished academic paper. This experience not only honed my analytical and writing skills but also deepened my understanding of cancer epidemiology, inspiring me to continue pursuing meaningful contributions to the medical field.

Volunteer
Vibha
I have been an active volunteer with Vibha, a platinum-rated non-profit organization dedicated to providing education and opportunities to underprivileged children in India. Over the past few years, I have contributed to various local events aimed at raising funds and awareness for this important cause. The primary event I volunteer at is the annual Summer Cricket Tournament held at Health Fairview Sports Center in Woodbury, where I assist in managing the concession stand. My responsibilities include selling food and beverages, with all proceeds directed toward supporting educational initiatives and life-changing opportunities for children in India. Volunteering with Vibha has given me the chance to make a direct impact on the lives of children in need while developing skills in event management, fundraising, and community engagement.

At Regions Hospital, I had the invaluable opportunity to shadow Dr. Vishal Sagar, an exceptional nephrologist. During this experience, I observed patient examinations and interactions, gaining a deeper understanding of nephrology. I learned about diseases such as chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the various treatment approaches, including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and kidney transplantation. Dr. Sagar's ability to explain complex medical conditions and treatment plans in a compassionate and accessible way was inspiring. Between patient visits, I took detailed notes and asked thoughtful questions, which allowed me to explore the intricacies of diagnosing and managing renal diseases. From interpreting lab results to observing the collaborative approach to patient care, this experience provided me with a well-rounded perspective on the challenges and rewards of working in nephrology. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Sagar for his mentorship and willingness to share his expertise, which has profoundly shaped my understanding of medicine and reinforced my passion for pursuing a career in healthcare.

Volunteer
Saint Therese Senior Living of Woodbury
Woodbury, Minnesota, United States
I volunteered at Saint Therese Senior Living, where I provided support and companionship to seniors across various areas of the facility. My primary duties included delivering meals from the kitchen to residents in the dining area, as well as bringing food to those in the independent living section who were unable to join communal dining. In addition to meal service, I spent time engaging with residents in the memory care unit, offering companionship by coloring, completing puzzles, and participating in activities to stimulate cognitive engagement. On Saturdays, I helped organize movie screenings in the facility's movie theater, making popcorn and creating a comfortable environment for residents to enjoy entertainment and social time. This experience allowed me to develop strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and an understanding of the needs of elderly individuals, while also fostering a sense of community and joy among the residents.
