• Reporting to the department Superintendent I oversaw a portion of the operations the Mill Finishing and Blanking department within an aluminum flat rolled sheet mill. • Coordinated the installation of new sensors on my department’s #1 producing machine on time with zero unplanned downtime. • Created with input from subject matter experts a Gemba Walk template and process with which to address findings. • Acted as a team leader during a Kaizen to eliminate misidentified scrap being returned to the Cast House. • Worked with IT to implement a method of identifying scrap material while eliminating human error.

Reporting to the Plant Manager I oversaw a job shop production workforce of 45 permanent employees plus up to 30 temporary employees with 5 department supervisors reporting to me. I was responsible for all production planning, schedule adherence and process improvements.

I had responsibility for the production activities of 35 union employees on the night shift. I primarily identified efficient ways to allocate resources to safely meet the production goals on my shift.

Reporting to the Operations Manager I was accountable for the 24/7 operation of a heat treat department with 8 employees reporting to me. I was accountable for $780,000 of aerospace fasteners passing through my furnaces every day with no safety or quality issues. I drove adherence to both NADCAP and AMS standards and also led the department through a NADCAP audit.

I helped people buy and sell more than 40 homes, through expert negotiation, strict schedule adherence, and a thorough understanding of the law and how to best find consensus among dueling parties.

I held various hourly production positions for my first 4 years at Carpenter before being promoted to a salaried Manufacturing Supervisor in the Arc Melting department and then the ESR/VAR department.

I started with Carpenter in the hourly ranks as a Utility employee. I held various operator positions with increased responsibility including material handling, machine operator and various positions within a melt shop until my promotion to Manufacturing Supervisor.
