Tunnel Project Manager Barhale/North Midlands JV (BNM Alliance) The Elan Valley Aqueduct (EVA) is a 119-kilometre-long Victorian era water structure that conveys partially treated water from the Elan Valley Reservoir cascade in mid Wales to Frankley Water Treatment Works in Birmingham. It is the primary supply of water to the city of Birmingham, serving around 3.2 million customers. The village of Knighton is within the area of Powys, Wales. In summary, the scope of the Works includes the design and construction of: • Three new (Total 5km) tunnels with an internal diameter of 3m. • Six permanent access points on the new tunnel. • Permanent isolation at either end of the sections of the existing EVA that has been replaced by the new works. • Constructing of a well house (including design and commissioning of Penstocks, flow meters PLC control), soil retaining walls, secant pile shafts, soil nail walls and connecting into siphon pipes. • NEC 3, option C contract

Project Manager on a new build Biomass Plant

STEP (Strategic Tunnel Enhancement Programme) constitutes one of the largest tunnel sewerage systems in the world. This huge gravity-driven hydraulic wastewater network tunnel was divided into 3 sections: Main Sewer, Link Sewer, and the Pumping Station. LS01 and LS02 consisted of 200 shafts and app 50 km of micro tunnels

Working for Hyder Consulting as a senior Tunnel/Civil Engineer in Abu Dhabi as Quality Control Consultant For Samsung C & T. The project consists of 9 shafts (7.5m-17.5m Dia with the diaphragm wall method) and 17 km of segmental tunnel lining with an id of 6m. Also, a secondary in situ lining (HDPE Lined) has been constructed for the complete tunnel as well as a segment production yard

The scope of works in the project included: • Sea outfall tunnel by pipe jacking method • Segmental lined tunnels utilizing a Lovat 131, 115 and 86 totalling 9 kilometres. • Numerous shafts by SCL, Underpinned and caisson method. • Launch adits by SCL method The West Ham sewer system was a combined foul and storm water facility overwhelmed by rainfall on a number of occasions over the last decade, putting approximately 500 homes at risk of flood damage. The project involved works between the Abbey Mills pumping station and Forest Gate tube station, some 3.3km to the north-east, directing storm water flows under gravity into the main storm water tunnel located beneath Upton Lane and other roads, to flow directly to Abbey Mills pumping station. The project comprised: • 3km of 2.87m diameter tunnel through mixed ground (London Clay and Lambeth Beds) using a new full face EPB TBM. • 5 No. main tunnel shafts, including a major pumping station (12.5m diameter). These were sunk using a combination of caisson and underpinning, most involving specialist ground dewatering. • A number of 1.2m diameter microtunnels, totalling 2.5km in length, using slurry TBMs. • 19 microtunnel shafts of varying diameter between 5 and 6m.2km of “live” online pipeline upsizing and a large number of new manholes all completed within the busy streets of West Ham.Service diversions and traffic management arrangements to enable the works.

• Worked as a tunnel manager for Costain at Hampton POS. • Contract included sinking a 15m dia shaft using the underpinning and shotcrete lined (SCL and NATM) method and a 6m and 5.2m diameter shaft using the caisson method. • Also included a 60 m pipe jack using a Lovatt M86 TBM. • Also completed a 3m Dia SCL (NATM) lined tunnel using a Celtic Miner on a radius curve with a total length of 75m

• Agent for a LNG pipeline from Milford Haven to Brechen Beacons in South Wales completing 15 road, river and rail crossings by pipejack method totalling a distance of 3200m. • Also sank 30 shafts from 5-6m dia ranging in depths from 20-50m using the underpinning, secant pile, and caisson and cofferdam method. • Utilised Herrenknecht TBMs (1800 AVN, 1650 AVN) and the Iseki Unclemole in hard mud and sandstone, silts, clay and sands. During this time also completed numerous directional drilling jobs using Vermeer, Ditchwitch and Power bore Rigs ranging in size from 300-600mm id

• Site Agent for a Flood Alleviation Scheme in Gloucester. • Completed a 60m pipe jack in blue clay using a 1500mm id Akkerman open faced TBM. • All this connected into 2 x 2.8m id Weolite pipeline which was open cut for a length of 350m.

• Worked as a Site Agent in St Fergus Scotland on an extension of a Gas refinery. • Project included RC slabs, drainage, fire hydrants, roads, pipe work, and reinstatement. • Also included an SCL chamber (SCL) with dimensions of 25m x 10m x 4m
