Lecturer, responsible for developing academic reading, writing, speaking and study skills for international students preparing for postgraduate study. The course follows a flipped model, requiring strong online facilitation skills and the ability to identify and respond to student needs through forum discussions, assignments and face-to-face sessions using MS Teams.

EAP and study skills teaching for international students, both face-to-face and online. Course and materials development. Module lead for Employability Skills. Exam item writing (Listening, Writing and Reading exams for International Foundation Year and Presessional courses). Teaching: English and Study Skills (ESS) module of the international foundation year (level 4); Short skills courses (academic writing; presentation skills; employability skills) at level 7; Academic skills webinars for international students at levels 6 – 8; Academic support at levels 6 – 8. Course lead: Employability skills, leading on teacher induction and providing ongoing support for teachers as well as reviewing and evaluating the pilot programme. Materials and course design, including assessments and teacher support materials for online and face-to-face programmes. Short academic and employability courses successfully designed and delivered in partnership with Business School and Faculty of Health. Assessment: Working within a small team to produce reading, writing and listening test items as part of a project to prepare a bank of summative exams for ESS and pre-sessional English. Member, university working group for Generative AI. Recently presented on “AI, Academic English and International Students” at an internal conference.

Teaching Academic English and study skills to international students on foundation year and pre-masters programmes. As the centre was newly-established, design, piloting and review of modules in Digital Literacy and Academic Study Skills (level 4) and Academic Reading and Writing (pre-masters).
