Jami Cantrell

Sea Women Expeditions, founded by geologist and explorer Susan R. Eaton, is an international collective of women and gender diverse ocean scientists, marine biologists, polar divers, filmmakers, educators, Indigenous advisors, and artists dedicated to exploring and protecting the polar regions. Our upcoming expedition to Antarctica in February 2026 brings together an interdisciplinary team committed to documenting and communicating the impacts of rapid ocean change—including disruptions to fragile polar ecosystems and threats to local wildlife such as leopard seals, penguins, krill, and other keystone species. As Co-Chair of the Arts Committee, I lead collaborative efforts to translate polar science into compelling visual narratives that educate, engage, and inspire global audiences. I also serve on both the Education & Outreach and Science Committees, helping to design and implement projects that promote ocean literacy, amplify Indigenous knowledge, and support inclusive leadership in polar research. Our mission is to create planet-wide ripple effects by providing field experience and storytelling platforms for Indigenous and non-Indigenous women in the arts and sciences, fostering environmental stewardship and action for the fragile Antarctic ecosystem.
