James Wilkie
CEO @ Platform Therapeutics, Inc.
About
I bring 40 years of experience in the life sciences industry, spanning biotech, medtech, and combination products, with a proven track record of taking products from concept to commercialization and leading companies through successful exits. Experience Highlights Founder & CEO, Platform Therapeutics (PTX, formerly Proletariat Therapeutics) Founded PTX and established the company’s scientific and business vision, secured and developed foundational intellectual property, and built the organization from inception into a clinical-stage company. Led strategy for product development and financing, advanced the lead program through successful Phase 1b clinical studies, and positioned the pipeline for entry into Phase 2 development. Founder & CEO, Lowell Therapeutics (acquired by AcelRx Pharmaceuticals, 2022). Founded and built Lowell Therapeutics, guiding the company to FDA Breakthrough Designation, ICD-10 national reimbursement coverage, and ultimately a strategic acquisition by AcelRx. Vice President, New Enterprise Development, La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company (LJPC) Directed the identification and advancement of new drug candidates, spearheaded major M&A and licensing transactions, and led the spinout of Lowell Therapeutics. Building on this work, I acquired patented technology and co-founded Platform Therapeutics to repurpose angiotensin II for preventing neurocognitive impairment and dialysis-induced heart disease, advancing the program through a successful Phase 1b study in Australia. Chief Operating Officer, Pluromed, Inc. (acquired by Sanofi, 2012) I joined as the first employee and VP of Operations in 2005, later serving as COO. I oversaw the development and commercialization of two innovative products launched in the U.S. and Europe, driving the company to a successful acquisition by Sanofi. MedChem Products, Inc. / Surgical Sealants, Inc. Held roles of increasing responsibility at MedChem, culminating as Director of Engineering across three manufacturing sites. Following MedChem’s acquisition by C.R. Bard, I co-founded Surgical Sealants, Inc. to advance spin-off technologies in surgical hemostasis.
