About
Veteran architect of software and robotics solutions for advanced manufacturing. I manage AI at Stratasys and help our customers achieve production manufacturing. My team is closing the loop for additive manufacturing by integrating 3d scanning and tools for understanding and correcting accuracy within GrabCAD Print (Stratasys print prep SW). Stratasys acquired Riven in September 2022. I founded Riven in 2016 to streamline the use of 3D scan data so that correcting part accuracy can be as easy as adjusting a digital photo. Prior to Riven, I founded Topolabs acquired by Autodesk and co-founded Autodesk's platform for additive manufacturing which now powers all of Autodesk's 3D design applications. Areas of expertise include product design ( > 100 products launched / >100M units shipped), additive manufacturing technology, and computational design software architecture. Quoted by TIME, Wall St Journal, Inc Magazine, US News, Technology Review and most 3D printing e-zines.

Vice President Software & AI
Berkeley, California, United States
I lead software teams and AI-enabled projects that enable the world's leading additive manufacturing machines to produce series production, industrial grade parts with unrivaled accuracy. We develop algorithms, workflows and user experience that accelerate customer success, drive revenue and open new markets with closed-loop manufacturing powered by machine learning.

Making physical products is difficult, expensive and generates waste equal to 10% of global GDP. We’re dedicated to eliminating the $3T of annual waste in the manufacturing industry. By bridging the divide between physical objects and their digital twins with 3D data, Riven helps our customers accelerate product introduction, increase yields, and grow faster and sustainably.

Senior Product Manager, Spark Platform for Additive Manufacturing
San Francisco, CA
#Escher is finally public! http://projectescher.com/ Very proud of my team. We went from napkin sketch to working Alpha unit in 13 weeks. As one of the founding architects of the Spark platform for additive manufacturing, I helped shape the initial platform vision and technology plan. I lead additive manufacturing technology for the platform and planned technology and algorithm development. I was influential in the acquisition of NetFabb by Autodesk which adds direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) manufacturing expertise and factory floor partnership with FIT (https://goo.gl/RjR1dA) to Autodesk. Spark is now rolled in as a cornerstone of Autodesk's Forge platform offering a-la-carte technology components to 3rd party application developers in a one stop shopping platform. Spark toolpath functionality is now a key component of Autodesk NetFabb manufacturing software. While building Spark, I directed advanced toolpath software development and advanced hardware development. My teams specialize in path-based additive manufacturing and post-processing. My software team architected and now maintains additive manufacturing toolpath generation algorithms for Autodesk. These power Autodesk Print Studio (reference stand-alone application) as well as the 3D printing pipeline for Autodesk's major products including NetFabb, Fusion 360, Inventor, Autocad, Revit, Maya and 3DS MAX. Our advanced toolpath algorithms are being used by partners such as Local Motors and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) to create large scale, production viable industrial components. My hardware team made additive manufacturing viable for new classes of products and mass manufacturing. We envisioned and developed Escher (projectescher.com) - hardware that combines multiple additive and subtractive manufacturing methods in parallel to dramatically reduce manufacturing time and eliminate tooling.

Founder and CEO
Topolabs - Acquired by Autodesk
Oakland CA
Topolabs was acquired by Autodesk in July 2014 and its technology is a key component of the Spark platform for additive manufacturing. I founded Topolabs with Mark Sears who is now CEO of Viridis3D. Topolabs is making breakthroughs in quality for low cost 3D printing. Our software tools teach path-based additive manufacturing machines new tricks for unprecedented part strength, flexibility and aesthetics. We're making additive manufacturing viable for production of a wide array of products.

VP R&D
As part of the company's management team I lead the technology development group to make lowest-cost solar power a reality. Responsibilities included oversight of solar concentrator design, structures and tracking systems as well as business strategy. CoolEarth Solar is making solar energy cost competitive with fossil fuels. My team successfully architected and deployed CPV systems capable of meeting the DOE SunShot goal of $1/Watt installed. An unprecedented deployment at Sandia National Laboratories provides power for their campus. Cool Earth's systems employ inexpensive plastic film as a primary optical and structural element to enable transformative cost reduction. CES was awarded three DOE and CEC grants totaling over $2MM to further technology development. I was PI on two of them.
Senior Engineer / Endoluminal Instruments Group Lead
Sunnyvale, CA
Managed instrument development group of 7 instrument designers for an emerging new surgical robot architecture. I also completed the initial functional design and prototyping of a camera instrument with integrated fiber-optic illumination for the new system. The camera instrument project involved optics, imaging vendors management, cleaning trials, and initial system testing.
