The position involved providing Network Optimization support for Japotech solutions on their various projects currently being undertaken. The tasks included support on site planning and site surveys, network benchmarking tests, network optimization and troubleshooting, etc

The position involved providing 2G/3G/4G RF Network Planning and Optimization Consultancy Services on behalf of CommsResources and Huawei Technologies Company DRC, in order to build and maintain (Managed Services) a 2G/3G/3.5G network for Airtel in DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo). Also provided support for various BSS maintenance works The position also involved 2G/3G/4G KPI monitoring and supervising a team of around 7 Test engineers to deliver monthly benchmarking tests and reports, in addition to handling the required network optimization processes in order to continuously improve the radio network. The total network of Airtel DRC consisted of 7RNC + 14BSC + approximately 1200 sites. In this position, I also supported the Vodacom Congo LTE network rollout

The position involved providing mainly 3G (UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA/HSPA+) Network Optimization consultancy services on behalf of Talkpool Network Services Ltd and Ericsson Botswana in order to build and maintain a new 3G network for Orange Botswana. It involved detailed optimization of the network to achieve contractual KPI targets.

The position involved providing 2G/3G/3.5G RF Network Planning and Optimization Consultancy Services on behalf of Networkers International and Huawei Technologies Company, in order to build and maintain (Managed Services) a radio network for Zain Company in South Sudan. The work involved extensive swap of old Ericsson equipment to new Huawei hardware/software equipment and completing a new RF optimum network plan (engineering parameters and software parameters). The position also involved extensive network optimization of the radio network to achieve contractual KPI targets. It was required to continuously report to management the overall network performance. Also provided support for various BSS maintenance works. In the project execution, I led a team of 4 RF network planning and optimization engineers. The position also involved optimization of the 2G network of a smaller network in south sudan called GEMTEL.

Worked in this position as a senior RF Planning and Optimisation Engineer in Warid Telecom Uganda and was involved in the building of the Warid network in Uganda and further expansion projects that involved extension of the network to all areas of the country and network upgrades to handle the high traffic volumes of the network. The Warid network was a completely new network and so it involved extensive radio network planning and optimization, site surveys of around 400 sites, network testing using TEMS and further optimization to achieve required KPI performance targets. It also involved continual network performance reporting to higher management.

I worked in this position as a Planning and Optimization Engineer at Huawei Technologies’ Uganda Office. In this position, I was required to support various projects of Huawei including the MTN-Uganda project, the Telecel Burundi project, the Onatel Burundi project and the Uganda Telecom project. These were big projects that required detailed network planning and optimization activities including engineering and software parameters planning and optimization, extensive site surveys, planning for network upgrades, extensive network drive testing, handling customer complaints, network performance monitoring, etc
