· Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, establish differential diagnoses, and develop evidence-based treatment plans for voluntary and involuntary patients across the lifespan. · Initiate and manage psychopharmacology (antipsychotics—including LAIs and clozapine/REMS, mood stabilizers, antidepressants, adjuncts) with close monitoring of labs, ECG/QTc, therapeutic drug levels, and adverse effects. · Lead crisis stabilization on inpatient units: verbal de-escalation, rapid emergency response medication pathways, medical clearance coordination, and policy-aligned oversight of seclusion/restraint. · Perform structured suicide, violence, and elopement risk assessments; evaluate decision-making capacity; implement individualized safety plans. · Experience on schizophrenia-spectrum and bipolar disorders: first-episode care, acute mania/psychosis management, relapse prevention, LAI conversion/maintenance, and adherence strategies. · Coordinate daily interdisciplinary rounds with nursing, social work, case managers, OT, hospitalists, and security to align goals of care and discharge milestones. · Address co-occurring substance use and withdrawal using CIWA/COWS-guided protocols; integrate harm-reduction and MAT when appropriate. · Deliver brief, goal-directed interventions (motivational interviewing, CBT/DBT-informed skills, psychoeducation) and family meetings to enhance engagement and continuity. · Drive safe and timely transitions of care: med reconciliation, discharge summaries, step-down/IOP/PHP referrals, and community linkage. · Contribute to quality & safety: restraint-reduction initiatives, metabolic monitoring programs, policy development, and outcomes tracking (LOS, readmissions, adverse events). · Utilize EHR/e-prescribing and telepsychiatry effectively while maintaining HIPAA/DEA/state-code compliance and facility bylaws.
