I have substantive experience advising clients on labor and employment matters arising out of complex U.S. and multinational corporate transactions, including negotiating and drafting labor and employment provisions of merger agreements and purchase agreements, and conducting due diligence and risk assessment of a target’s labor and employment law compliance. I have experience counseling clients on executive and senior management separations, and negotiating and preparing separation agreements and employment restrictive covenants. I regularly advise clients on legal issues affecting the workplace, including wage and hour matters, anti-discrimination and anti-harassment matters, reductions in force, union matters, and other issues arising under federal, state, and local employment and labor laws. Though my current practice is primarily transactional, I also possess litigation experience. To that end, I have represented employers against claims brought by current and former employees in federal and state court, as well as charges brought before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In the unionized workplace, I have represented employers in arbitration arising out of alleged violations of collective bargaining agreements.

I worked as an associate attorney in the labor and employment practice group in the Los Angeles, California and Washington, D.C. offices of Kirkland & Ellis. I advised clients on U.S. and multi-national corporate transactions, including with respect to due diligence and risk assessment. Further, I drafted employment restrictive covenants and executive separation agreements, and counseled clients on various legal issues arising in the workplace.

Represented and advised management in litigation and various legal matters arising in the workplace. Counseled clients in all industries with an emphasis in the airline industry, and routinely represented airlines in grievance resolution matters, including grievance arbitrations. Drafted settlement agreements, separation agreements, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission position statements, case assessments, and employee handbook provisions. Conducted extensive legal research and composed memoranda on substantive and procedural issues pertaining to claims arising under Title VII, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the AIR 21 Whistleblower Protection Program, the D.C. Human Rights Act, and D.C. wage and hour laws. Experienced and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to collective bargaining agreements and union elections.

Drafted settlement agreements, EEOC position statements, case assessments, and employee handbook provisions. Conducted legal research and compose memoranda on substantive and procedural issues pertaining to claims arising under Title VII, ADEA, FLSA, PDA, § 1981, the D.C. Human Rights Act, the D.C. Wage Payment and Collection Law, and the D.C. Minimum Wage Act. Collaborate with attorneys on fact-finding, legal analysis, and case strategy at various stages of litigation.

Observed and participated in litigation of both Plaintiff and Agency (Defense) cases involving workplace discrimination, retaliation, and failure to accommodate claims. Drafted deposition lines of questioning, discovery requests, litigation plans, close of record, damages questionnaires, various motions and responses to motions, and deposition transcript summaries. Conducted an in-person client affidavit interview. Attended depositions and fact finding conferences, and participated in litigation team strategy meetings. Conducted legal research and drafted memoranda on compensatory damages.

Conducted legal research, prepared memoranda, and drafted judicial opinions on civil and criminal cases. Prepared case notes for judge’s reference in hearings. Observed and assisted judge in courtroom proceedings.
