Money. A five-letter word that evokes infinite perceptions. It shapes or influences practically every decision a person or institution makes…much of life revolves around the use of it. Your experience with money is shaped by your relationship with it. I am on a mission to help people focus on their relationship with money. Because it influences every swipe, every deposit, every fiscal choice you make. I’ve been fascinated by the emotional dynamics of money since October 19, 1987. The stock market crashed that day. It is as vivid in my memory as if it were yesterday. There were people who were so upset they were completely panicking, and yet there were others who were quite calm. The dichotomy of what I witnessed on “Black Monday” was particularly poignant because for the longest time I believed rich and wealthy people didn’t panic when it came to money. I thought their money somehow shielded them from making financial mistakes or experiencing financial losses. This day, along with my years of working in the private bank and navigating the ups and downs of running a business is how I know the intersection of emotions + money to be complex. Professionally and personally. For three decades, I’ve been advancing the culture of financial wellbeing. Helping people decrease their financial stress and increase their financial health by getting them to focus on both sides of the money equation. I am the author of “Financial Intimacy: How to Create a Healthy Relationship with Your Money and Your Mate,” frequent blogger, creator and trademark holder of Pricing Made Human®, and host of the podcast, “More Than Money.” My clients include Fortune 100 companies, AM Law 200 firms, nationally known non-profits and conferences (large & boutique). My work has been featured on Minnesota Public Radio, SiriusXM, "Good Morning America," Oprah.com, CNN, HLN, FOX, Black Enterprise, NPR, Reuters.com, and the Wall Street Journal. I blend my MBA in finance from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business with my undergrad in marketing from the Fashion Institute of Technology to bring both an analytical mind and a creative spirit in service of my clients. When I am not providing behavioral-based financial and business coaching for entrepreneurs and small business owners or hosting events, I am traveling the country speaking about the intersection of emotions and money.
