A first assistant to a successful and experienced photographer encounters several responsibilities, both on set, and off. This could be anything from building photography sets & preproduction, digital-teching, holding reflectors, creating lighting diagrams, standing in for a lighting setup, interacting with a model to evoke emotion, training interns in the technical, social, and creative aspects of photography. Also, with a photo studio comes a good deal of equipment maintenance.

This was a job that helped me refine many work ethics that carry over into my current profession. Patience, urgency, consistency, positivity, creative problem-solving, and the ability to work under pressure are all things that I was able to improve upon through serving the sassy patrons of West Bloomfield coffee and frozen yogurt.
