Jack Canny

My role involves supporting the implementation of some of the largest Artificial Intelligence and Automation projects in our country. I have worked on a number of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) projects that have contributed to our portfolio's projected savings of almost 100,000 hours per year. I currently work across a number of projects, including our portfolio's first Agentic AI Automation project. On this project I designed the logic for which the agent is built. Additionally, I am helping to design the operating model for a new AI and Automation Centre of Excellence. Besides my project work, I have worked on a number of internal initiatives that have provided me ample opportunities to develop professionally. These include facilitating multiple generative AI demos for my team, demonstrating how GenAI can streamline their work. I’ve had the opportunity to speak on panels and deliver presentations to large audiences, experiences that have significantly strengthened my confidence as a presenter.

I worked on a collaborative Artificial Intelligence consultancy project between UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, BearingPoint and the Department of Foreign Affairs. The aim of the project was to describe how Artificial Intelligence could be used to enhance the Consular Services of the Department of Foreign Affairs. My role involved coordinating Artificial Intelligence research, conducting an analysis of the current systems in place and testing technologies that could be used to carry out suggested recommendations. We presented our findings to a number of senior officers at the Department of Foreign Affairs. I created two working chatbots to showcase during this presentation to highlight their applicability.

-Lead a team of five in a project to maximise the capacity of a 120,000 sq ft facility that originally contained 22,000 pallets with a product value of over €150 million. -Used analytical skills to determine the amount and measurements of product currently in the warehouse alongside the warehouse manager. -Applied critical thinking to determine there was potential to increase the number of rows in the racking thereby increasing the warehouse capacity by 16.67%. This would allow for a potential €320,000 increase in annual revenue. -Employed communication skills to work with the financial controller and determine the cost of installing the extra row in the racking. (Approximately €46,000 in materials and €18,000 in labour). -Used technological skills to work with IT lead to create new virtual pallet storage locations in warehouse management system. -Implemented problem-solving skills to ensure the increased warehouse capacity would be filled with pallets of the correct dimensions. This involved working with top management and communicating with a major client who agreed to reserve future storage space. -Utilised leadership skills to oversee two warehouse operators who implemented the new racking system.
