Iñigo de la Serna

Iñigo de la Serna is a Vice-chair & Independent executive Lead Director of TYPSA and an independent non-executive director of Bank of Caminos. He works as a professional consultant with companies and multilateral organizations in infrastructure projects, technology, sustainability and environment, mobility and urban management, among others. he has been general manager of Madrid Green Urban Mobility Lab and also external advisor of NEC Iberia and the Inter-american Development Bank (IDB). He has been for two years Partner of Seeliger y Conde, the leading Executive Search firm in Spain with more than 25 years of experience in the search and development managerial talent. From November 2016 to June 2018, he held the position of Minister of Transport and Public Works of the Government of Spain. Previously, since June 2007, he had been Mayor of Santander. During his time as Mayor, he held for over three years the Presidency of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and was Founder and President for four years of the Spanish Network of Smart Cities. During this period he also held positions of major responsibility in various national and international bodies, representing municipalities, regions and cities. Prior to his time as Mayor, Iñigo de la Serna had been Councilor for Environment, Waters and Beaches, of Santander. He was also deputy of the Parliament of Cantabria in two legislatures. Prior to his career in the public sector, he worked for 4 years heading the department of hydraulics at the engineering consulting firm APIA XXI. His interests include Innovation, Smart Cities, and Civil Engineering and Urban Development Projects, with a special focus on Sustainable Projects. Iñigo de la Serna is a Civil Engineer from the University of Cantabria.He also holds a degree in Business Administration from UNED and an Executive MBA from EAE Business School. In 2018, he was decorated with the Grand Cross of the Order of Carlos III.
