An excellent opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience in the detailing of high-end residential interiors and gain fresh new perspective while working alongside an experienced team of skilled craftsmen. It was my responsibility to produce detailed shop drawings for the manufacture of custom millwork & furniture under the direct supervision of co-owner and lead in-house industrial designer. I was also involved in the production of a full set of construction drawings for the renovation of a live/work space in the Commercial Drive area.

After completing my degree overseas I traveled throughout New Zealand, Australia and the Fiji Islands before moving to Vancouver. While settling into new surroundings I explored a wide range of part-time positions which included working for several art galleries, for a local arts and crafts publication, as a sales & design consultant for a ceramic tile showroom, as an apprentice to a tile-setter, an assistant to an interior decorator as well as an AutoCAD technician for several independent commercial planners before acquiring a full-time position as an Interior Designer.

A full-time position while attending school part-time which involved in-house design consultations and working as a client liaison throughout the sales process, responsible for delivering an enjoyable experience to our customers. I also took a lead in the development of cost effective solutions for product merchandising to optimize our ever-evolving display for showroom sales.

Responsible for the re-development and management of the specifications format and database to improve efficiency during the tender stage and ensure success in meeting client expectations by providing accurate interior design construction drawings, millwork shop drawings and contract documentation for 60+ new laneway house developments as well as permit drawings for some home renovations. Not only did I participate in the design and detailing of single-family homes I also filled an administrative gap by working cross-functionally within a small organization to support sales & marketing initiatives (ie. the development of an online application), pre-construction procurement and various coordination tasks between multiple job sites during the construction phase through to substantial completion.

Gained extensive experience through entrepreneurship while facilitating the design process in the development of a comprehensive set of specifications and interior design drawings for single-family renovations, custom homes, multi-family residential units and common areas, commercial tenant improvements as well as stone masonry & millwork shop drawing packages for various trades while working closely with a wide range of business clientele and homeowners. I specialized in the production of detailed construction documentation while offering innovative solutions through creative problem solving to suit specific budgets and time constraints.

I currently provide a collaborative design & technical drafting service to Architects & Interior Designers within the Lower Mainland. I also offer design consultations and renovation planning to local homeowners who are looking for creative solutions on how to make the most out of their home.

Effectively worked as part of a team to interpret and execute a consistent brand image for one of America’s premiere luxury home builders. This included marketing floor plans, presentation renderings, and visual merchandising for the assembly of show homes and sales centres as well as material research and sourcing of suitable finish packages and interior drawings for multi-family residential projects.

A part-time position while attending school full-time that allowed me to gain first-hand experience within a well established firm by working directly under the supervision of very capable Senior Interior Design staff on all aspects of residential and hospitality projects.

The objective of this program is to teach you how to develop a business plan and develop the necessary skills to implement it. Participants receive training and consultation in the development of the business idea, business start-up and operation, market research, marketing and advertising, personal selling, organizational skills, financial planning, financing, time management, social media and business communications.
