ISMET GUNGOR

After graduation from Maritime College of Istanbul Technical University in 1986 I joined Cerrahgil Shipping Company as Marine Engineer. My post graduate education had taken place in New York whereof I have received an MBA degree from the College of Insurance in St. John University, by majoring in double concentration. My career in insurance had started in Ray Sigorta, subsidiary of Doğan Group. My promotion to be Executive Vice President in year 2000 was the start of challenging transformation years of Ray Sigorta. I was assigned to be responsible for Marketing, Sales and Distribution Networks, Information Technology, Training and Education, Regional Offices. In 2007, I joined Garanti Sigorta now it's named Eureko Sigorta after acquisition of Dutch Eureko B.V. As Executive Vice President, I was responsible to deploy agency and broker distribution channels within the company who is a market leader for its bancassurance practices in Turkey, that is very first example of multi-distribution channel management in Turkish Insurance Industry. Another cornerstone in my professional life has been the appointment to the head of Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool (TCIP) in 2007. It’s been greatest satisfaction of my career and I am extremely proud of TCIP’s achievements. The pool has become leading business model to the world for nat-cat business/environment and for other challenging fields of insurance/industries. TCIP has become the most recognized insurance brand in Turkey and Turkish Insurance brand in the world. It has achieved over 8 Million policies and penetration rate reached to close to %50 from %4 . Its liquid fund exceededs 5 Billion and claim payment capacity is over 15 Billion TL. It maintains one of the largest reinsurance programs in the world. It holds major international marketing and PR awards. Presently, I am Chief Commercial Officer in Eureko Sigorta and the General Coordinator of Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool (TCIP).
