About

As a student at Santa Clara University, and through my experience as a Thermal Systems Research Assistant at the National Solar Observatory, I discovered my passion for and interest in thermal-fluidic systems and processes. I followed up on this interest by obtaining my Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, with an emphasis in thermal-fluids, from Stanford University. Shortly after, I found a great match at Lucid Motors for my technical interest and personal passion related to clean energy and sustainability. I joined the company just when we were beginning to pursue development of the Lucid Air sedan as a serious, production vehicle. I designed, analyzed, and tested many of the thermal systems components for the Air, learning an immense amount about the components, thermal system, and also other vehicle systems along the way. I helped drive vehicle level testing and controls optimization for various use cases, and probably had the most fun working on topics related to charging. In the end, the Air ended up winning Motortrend’s Car of the Year award, a great recognition of all of our dedication and hard work. I have continued to seek out and take on additional responsibility, architecting, analyzing, and beginning layouts and sourcing for Lucid’s next Gen vehicle platforms. As my career continues to develop I plan to stay dedicated to topics related to sustainability and clean energy, tackling new and tough challenges along the way!

Owned and drove the development of an enabling technology for the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope, an air curtain at the interface between lab and ambient spaces. Ran CFD analyses to optimize the design and improve confidence in the feasibility of this technology. Generated comprehensive procurement package for the manufacture of the Air Knife Assembly (as it was so named) and oversaw procurement and manufacturing. Conducted factory acceptance testing and installed in the part on-site in Maui, HI. This project taught me an immense amount about CFD analysis, HVAC design, and project management; skills I carry with me as I approach every new engineering problem I come across today.

For my senior design project at Santa Clara University, my team and I conceived, designed, analyzed, built, and tested a 3U cubesat, for which the main purpose was to provide disaster relief communications using amateur radio. I served as the team's lead structural engineer, managing interfaces, producing detailed Solidworks models for machining, performing finite element analyses, machining the structure and internal mounting components, and finally performing rigorous flight vibrations testing of the assembled satellite. In my time on the project I was able to take the structural sub-system all the way from design to build to test, moving the SCUCube satellite one step closer to launch.

Tasked with creating a workable SolidWorks model in order to run CFD simulations on an integral component of the new Daniel K Inouye Solar Telescope. Also tasked with designing and implementing tests to determine the thermal output of an Andor Zyla camera, in order to decide whether or not external cooling was necessary. The component I worked on is called the Air Knife and it functions as a transparent barrier between the ambient and lab conditions of the telescope. I've developed skill and competency with both SolidWorks and Star-CCM+ while actively collaborating with a team of highly skilled engineers.
