Originally from Carbondale, IL, I graduated from University of Cincinnati in April 2017 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. I am a member of Cohort 13 of the Operations Leadership Program for United Technologies Corporation (UTC), where I have worked as a Quality Engineer for Pratt & Whitney's F135 aftermarket program, and for UTAS as an NPI buyer supporting the Boeing 777X program. During this summer internship with Duke Energy, I held a role in the Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) group in the nuclear department. The first project that I worked on was a re-evaluation of the current high wind risk analysis for one of Duke Energy's sites. By taking a closer look at how the current analysis was performed, I was able to create and send a proposal to the company performing the analysis, outlining how to improve the process to make the risk values more accurate. Additionally, I was responsible for updating the system drawings for one of the sites, and updating the sourcing in Duke's failure analysis tool. Amongst other, smaller-scale projects that I had the opportunity to help the PRA group with, I also had the opportunity to visit three nuclear sites over the summer. Overall, learning the amount that I did about the nuclear industry and Duke Energy as a whole made for a very positive summer internship experience.

I picked up this, my first job, as a sophomore in high school. I worked as a bus boy and a server for the three years that I was there. As a server, I waited on tables of anywhere from 3-5 people, up to parties of 20+ (birthdays, weddings, banquets). While this was just a job at a restaurant, it was also my first ever employment experience. My teamwork ability, time management skills, and ability to multi-task and keep my cool all greatly benefited from holding this job. Also, I can honestly say that I enjoyed meeting the variety of people who come to eat at a restaurant, and I believe that I had a positive impact on almost everyone that I waited on.
