Frequently patients with suspected genetic disorders still don't receive a genetic diagnosis. In my PhD thesis, I'm developing methods to accurately detect aberrant events in omics datasets, particularly RNA-seq (splicing) and proteomics data, that help clinicians bridge this gap. This allows to provide a more targeted therapy to the patients. In the future, I expect that the inclusion of additional omics information and more advanced statistical and machine-learning methods will allow to pinpoint genetic defects even more precisely.
