* Setting strategy for Cloudera's Education department, and ensuring customers get the training plan that best meets their needs. Determined which new courses to create, oversaw the development of the materials, managed alpha and beta versions of the classes, liaised with the Product and Engineering departments to ensure that we were creating courses which fit in with the company's technical direction and vision.

Wrote a regular column on Unix/Linux and open source software. Subjects ranged from think pieces and predictions to deep dives on particular technologies.

Lead instructor at Cloudera, teaching Hadoop, HBase, Hive, Pig, and related technologies.

Responsibilities include: Hiring and managing staff * keeping abreast of technical developments and working with the Engineering and Product teams to ensure our courses cover the most up-to-date technologies * managing the department's P&L * working with the Professional Services team to ensure we are delivering the correct mix of products to customers * overseeing the quality of course development and delivery * and evangelizing Kafka and Confluent at conferences by delivering talks and tutorials.
