The goal of this research is to dig deeper into the evolution of Chester, PA and the economic decline that the city has experienced since the Industrial Era. Multiple factors will be assessed in their relation to the decline of Chester, such as geographic, financial, and government interaction, as well as an assessment on the efforts made to slow or reverse the decline. The research will be conducted with Professor John Caskey. Responsibilities include gathering data from government documents related to Chester, PA, gathering and analyzing data from the US Census, analyzing data from Census of Business and Industry. Using the data gathered models were created for population growth and modeling the time evolution of other socioeconomic variables such as macroeconomic decline of Chester, crime rates, income, cash flows, business development, and government impact.
