Component engineering is an engineering discipline primarily used to assure the availability of suitable components required to manufacture a larger product. The term "Component engineering" combines two ideas, whereas: * a component is a smaller, self-contained part of a larger entity, and * engineering is the discipline and profession of applying science (knowledge) for the benefit of people. Those who professionally practice primarily this discipline are called component engineers. Component engineers are typically responsible for the "selection, approval/qualification, documentation, and management of all purchased components and direct material utilized to produce an end product".

As a QA Manager, I'm supposed to lot of circus to achieve the trust of my Director/VP and also from my sub-ordinates. 1. I have to punctual in meetings and conferences. 2. I shall be very thorough with QA methodolgies, like QA Institute's V-Model. 3. Conduct meetings every day or every alternate days to show that I am in control. 4. Listen to my team and make them feel I am also in the team. 5. If situation of tight schedule arises, be prepared to jump in the arena of testing, next to my team members. This will not only make them great and also make them feel like I support them when it is most needed. 6. Keep good documentation of what each of my team doing and remind them their responsibilities and dead lines. 7. Get to know the system so I can talk in and out when needed in meetings, both with my superiors and also with my sub-ordinates. 8. Make full track of defects and make sure they are getting addressed in time and make sure developers take every defect seriously. 9. Make sure the developers are doing UNIT testing before they say it is ready for testing or re-testing. 10. Be a single point of contact for developers and testers and business analysts. 11. Be serious, but don't micro manage them, give them enough space and freedom and at the same time make sure to make them feel like project schedule is tight. 12. Go get them tiger.

Quality engineers are in charge of monitoring the quality control of a company's products or services for their customers.
