About
My research has investigated the psychology of allocation decisions including two-party and multi-party negotiations, group process and decisions, procedural justice and ethics, identity, and the philosophy of science. This research has been published in Business Ethics Quarterly, Group Decision and Negotiation, the Journal of Economic Psychology, the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Organization Studies, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Social Justice Research, and other outlets. My teaching has included courses on organizational behavior, high performing teams, negotiations, creating and maintaining business relationships, managing conflict in organizations, consulting to non-profits, philosophy of social science, business ethics, culture, and leadership. I have taught these subjects to executives, Ph.D. candidates, MBA students, and undergraduates from around the world in many global locations. I often bring humanities topics into the business classroom. I have been a visiting faculty member at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, Columbia Business School, the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, India, and the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. I have been chair of the Department of Management and Director of the Ph.D. program at the business school at the University of Utah, Associate Editor of Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, on the editorial boards of Academy of Management Review and Academy of Management Learning and Education, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Salt Lake Art Center in Salt Lake City. I was council member and mayor of the Town of Alta, Utah, and served on the Central Wasatch Commission and the Board of Directors of the Unified Fire Authority. In my spare time, I enjoy skiing, biking, hiking, fly fishing, cooking, and visiting art museums.
