Experienced in synthetic organic, medicinal and heterocyclic chemistry, structure-based drug design, and intellectual property strategies. Areas of expertise spanning from early lead identification to lead optimization covering various therapeutic areas including CNS, oncology, and inflammation. Key inventor of Rolapitant (Varubi®), a neurokinin-1 antagonist approved by US FDA in 2015, for the prevention of chemotherapy/postoperative induced emesis and vomiting. Major contributor in the design and synthesis of SCH 900353, a first-in-class ERK1/2 kinase inhibitor for the treatment of advanced tumors (metastatic melanoma or metastatic colorectal cancer), which has completed Phase I clinical studies. Co-inventor of more than 20 patents/applications and co-authored more than 30 scientific publications/presentations. Experienced in mentoring junior research scientists, summer intern, and managing research projects with CROs at WuxiAppTec and Pharmaron.
