After over a decade in the classroom, I am pursuing a long-held interest in computer programming and data science. I am passionate about changing outcomes for low-income students and students of color in public schools. For 12 years as a classroom teacher, I have sought to do this by preparing my first-generation college students for success in higher education. Throughout those years, I have honed my communication and organization skills and have developed the ability to think strategically about how to solve complex problems. I have become a leader in my field with numerous fellowships and teacher leadership opportunities. I want to bring my both my quantitative reasoning skills and my communication skills to a new field, hopefully applying my programming and data analysis abilities to the field of public policy or to work with a non-profit organization.
