I write a 6-page monthly column in The NATION's Better Health Magazine, responding to readers' questions related to contraception and sexual health problems/queries.

I sit on fostering panels as an independent panel member for Fostering For You. I was invited to join the team because of my background in sexual health and nursing, and subsequent child protection experience. Panels are made up of people from a range of backgrounds, with several extremely experienced social workers amongst the membership pool.

With this job, I was the first Outreach Clinical Nurse Specialist in Contraception and Sexual Health in the UK. With no-one to base such Outreach on, I had a free hand to innovate - and, I have not stopped since ! I was full-time for 10 yrs, then dropped to part-time for eight years, whilst developing other areas of expertise and the business. I set up London's first 'free condom supply points'​, which grew over time to become what is now known as the C-Card Scheme, a national free condom supply system. During this job, I gave remote nursing advice to patients who called this national nurse led advice line for information, guidance or medical assistance. I learned a lot during this job because we handled calls about all aspects. Occasionally we transferred calls to colleagues we knew had more experience on certain topics, to help our caller, but this changed over time and we could not 'cherry pick' our areas of expertise. When we did this, we had to explain the limits of our advice and document when we advised 'off script'. My colleagues were relieved when I was on duty because they could pass contraception and sexual health related queries in my direction, and often listened to my answers and advice given in addition to the computerised algorithms the system required us to use. I left this job because I wanted direct patient contact again, and returned to clinical work related to contraception and sexual health, back in Lambeth, where I had worked full-time and where I always remained 'on the bank' (available for sessional work) - and they needed more staff again.

Lead Nurse Contraception. Lead trainer for MSH@Home. CQC Registered Manager : I was invited to become a Director of MSH Health & Wellbeing CIC when it was formed in 2013, which is registered with the CQC (Care Quality Commission) and am the Registered Manager. MSH had three divisions - MSH@ Queen's Park, where we delivered two sessions per week, out of hours, caring for people's contraception and sexual health needs to Level 2; MSH Wellbeing, which delivered holistic care from the office in Angel - massage, aromatherapy, and associated holistic care; and MSH@Home, which is a new venture, aiming to deliver personalised home care to private clients with various medical needs, including HIV - this is similar to a private district nursing service.

I enjoyed working in A&E very much. It was an intense time in my life, during which I learned a lot, saw a lot, and, even now, remember a lot about it. I only left this job to pursue a full time six month course in 'tailoring and design' that I had longed to do for some time. It was a complete change of scene, which allowed me to further my knowledge about techniques related to my lifelong hobby, sewing/dressmaking.

This course was required to gain a professional qualification that enabled me to become a Team Leader and District Nursing Sister.
